Our Interns

Alexa Pierce (she/her) is an incoming second year master’s in public health candidate focusing on health policy and management at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. She is deeply passionate about advancing sexual and reproductive health through advocacy, research, and policy. In her spare time, she enjoys taking nature walks, reading, and cooking new recipes.

Roshni Gurung (she/her) is originally from Nepal. She is a dedicated healthcare professional with over a decade of experience in patient care and chronic disease management, and is an aspiring public health researcher. Roshni’s journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to addressing health disparities, particularly in maternal and child health. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand how systemic barriers limit access to care, experiences that continue to fuel my passion for health equity and justice. Her background includes working closely with underserved communities, providing compassionate care, and supporting individuals living with conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes. Currently, Roshni is pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh, where she is building on both academic training and hands-on experience to address racial disparities in health outcomes. She is especially passionate about reproductive justice and developing community-led, data-driven solutions that center Black maternal health. Through my education, clinical experience, and unwavering commitment to advocacy, Roshni hopes to contribute meaningfully to public health policies that are inclusive, equitable, and transformative.

Victoria A. Wyant (she/her) is currently pursuing a PhD in the Health Services Research and Policy Program under the guidance of Dr. Lindsay Sabik and Dr. Brittany Brown-Podgorski. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, earning a BS in microbiology and immunology and a BA in Judaic studies. Additionally, she holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the same institution. Before joining Pitt, she contributed to the Framing the Future 2030 initiative at the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), focusing on transforming academic public health. She was also involved in the Firefighter Cancer Initiative and the Prevention Education and Research in Latin America (PERLA) projects at the University of Miami. Passionate about community service, Wyant has volunteered at the Greater Boston Food Bank, where she learned about some of the most pressing issues affecting families in Boston, MA.
